I had delated the scrolling apps on my phone before, but over the last few months had reloaded them. I had been debating deleting them again. Reading your article when it says, "Stop it. Stop doing that... Right Now." I went and deleted them all again. 😆
I love your list! I agree with all of these. And yes, soy can give men "man boobs" too! My life is so much better and more productive after getting rid of lots of things on my phone, especially facebook. I just login occasionally on my laptop to check it. I find myself getting more infuriated recently at how distracting my phone can be, when I go to check one thing and find myself wondering 5 minutes later what I was going to do! I have actually considered getting a "dumb" phone. Another thing I implemented years ago is having unknown calls go to voicemail and I never have my peace stolen by someone I never wanted to talk to in the first place! Haha. I intend to implement the daily walk in 2026, I have always been so bad about that but I know it would be great for me.
Yes, scrolling on a phone can almost literally be as addictive as drugs. It's totally insane. Cut it off at the source! I say we kill the beast!
Soy is totally crazy and something nobody seems to talk about... It's so, so bad. I know women who have told me that if they eat soy, it makes their menstrual cycles unbearably intense, long, and painful. We should be talking about this more. I don't know about that first-hand myself, of course, but I had a bad enough experience myself that I'm basically out when it comes to soy. No, thank you. I don't want to eat food that makes me sad... and what a weird side effect! I've never heard ANYONE talk about this before.
I've cut out almost all "added sugar" in my life: no more candy, baked goods, pastries, etc. It just causes too many issues. These days, I just eat natural snacks like dates, prunes, banana chips, figs, etc. It's done wonders for my digestion, weight, and other things. I spent my first Thanksgiving and Christmas season without eating a single cookie or brownie... and I didn't even miss them! I can't see ever going back now.
And yes: "silence unknown callers" is the greatest gift Apple ever gave iPhone users. I have this on all day, every day. If it's a serious call, they'll leave a message, and I'll call them back. Brilliant.
Also, call me sometime if you go for a walk, and we can talk and walk together. I do that with friends sometimes. It's another fun way to relax on a "freedom walk."
I totally will call you on a walk, that's a great idea! :) And wow, go you with cutting out the sugar! I've always wanted to do that, but it seems really hard to get started. I've heard you don't crave it after you are off it after a while though, so it's great to hear how that worked for you! That's amazing, that you even went through the holidays without it! I'm working on cutting back on alcohol, so maybe after that's a good habit, I will try it with sugar too. Omg, what vices will I have left?? Haha jk. I think I'll always stick with coffee though, It's my main love. 💕😂 On the note of the ingredient lists, the one frustrating me the most right now is "natural flavors", ugg, it's in everything. Trying to get rid of that one.
Oh yeah, meant to tell you to try sungold kiwis, they are like nature's candy! Literally so addictive, but such a treat. I didn't know till the other day I guess kiwis have some great health benefits too, so woot for that!

Hahaha... I'm happy to help whip you back in shape!

Thanks, Bekah! All good thoughts.
