An Irish Blessing on St. Patrick's Day
Live from the balcony at St. Elizabeth of Hungary Roman Catholic Church
I filmed this song (“An Irish Blessing”) from the balcony at St. Elizabeth of Hungary Roman Catholic Church in Denver, Colorado, a few years ago.
Hearing the voices of men and women performing this live, unaccompanied, in a beautiful space like this took my breath away. I love to listen to it on St. Paddy’s Day.
May you be blessed by this Irish blessing as I was (and still am).
“An Irish Blessing”
Words: Traditional / Music: Moore
May the road rise to meet you. May the wind be always at your back. May the sun shine warm upon your face, the rains fall soft upon your fields. And until we meet again, until we meet again, may God hold you in the palm of his hand. May the sun make your days bright. May the stars illuminate your nights. May the flowers bloom along your path, your house stand firm against the storm. And until we meet again, until we meet again, may God hold you in the palm of his hand.
By the way, if you like songs like this, check out Canto Deo — they’re a great group of singers in Denver who sing sacred music a few times a year at no cost to the public.
As anyone who reads what I write here on a regular basis knows, I’m a huge fan of sacred choral music, and Canto Deo is always a delight to see and hear in person.
